Roy Reinertsen is an upcoming Blues-Folk-Country singer and acoustic guitar player. He is playing his debut concert at Hoquiam’s Historic 7th Street Theatre backed onstage by The Oarsmen. After playing solo for many years Roy recently formed the The Oarsmen comprising of Nate Ranken, Bass Guitar, and Patrick Mehan, Drummer. Roy and the band are based in Olympia.
Roy started playing guitar in high school inspired by the music of Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and Nirvana. His music is a blend of traditional blues-folkcountry, more on the blues and folk, and influenced by Woody Guthrie, Bukka White, Son House, Hank Williams, Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan, Jimmy Rogers, and Randy Newman. In one word - Soulful. Not finding anything as interesting and meaningful as his own name, he named his first studio album “Roy Reinertsen”. All of the songs in the album are original and have the traditional theme of heartbreak and being a drunk, with a storyline that resolves at the end. Being a spiritual person Roy finds spirituality in his music.
Roy actively plays shows in local cafes, fairs and festivals in the Olympia, Tacoma, and Seattle area. He has been playing at the Lake Sylvia Festival for the past three years. His debut at the 7th Street Theatre will be a big step as a musician and help him reach a wider audience. During the first part of the show Roy will be playing solo, mostly songs from his first album. The Oarsmen will join Roy during the second part of the show and will be playing songs from Roy’s first album and his upcoming album. Come relax and dance to Roy and the Oarsmen.
